Tired of working on cases you don’t believe in? Longing to do something meaningful with your law degree? The Institute for Justice, the nation’s leading libertarian public interest law firm, is seeking a staff attorney to join its merry band of litigators in its Arlington, Va. headquarters. IJ litigates cutting-edge constitutional cases in the areas of private property rights, economic liberty, school choice, and free speech in both state and federal courts nationwide. We’ve litigated cases before the U.S. Supreme Court including the Kelo eminent domain case, the Swedenburg wine direct shipping case, and the Zelman school choice case. We seek attorneys with 0–4 years of litigation experience, excellent communication skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, solid academic records, a passion for freedom, and a good sense of humor. Clerkship preferred. We offer a competitive salary, full health, dental, and life insurance benefits, and a pension plan as well as a collegial, positive work environment and the opportunity to gain real litigation experience with meaningful responsibility in cases that will have immediate real-world impact. May 24 2008: TEDsters - I just read a few of the comments and just wanted to weigh in. On the Life Box - we have writtien the Agriculture Depts of every state (except Hawaii) to make sure the tree seeds we are including are permitted. We already cross checked through the seed companies but want to have officials weigh in.
On the mycopesticides, please see the Guiding Principles I have listed, attached to my patents, in Mycelium Running: How Mushrooms Can Help Save the World. I realize how potent this mycotechnology is and it must be carefully presented. The EPA has studied Metarhizium for more than 20 years, and its use for termite and ant control is encouraged. By the way, every termite and ant colony has Metarhizium fungi associated with it. This is a dance that has been going on for hundreds of millions of years. And, no need to get paranoid about a fungus eating humans - lots of them out there already. I am not promoting these. Mycophobia is the term mycologists use to explain the irrational fear of fungi - like any form of biological prejudice, ignorance creates fear, fear creates prejudice. Knowledge surpasses both. We have lots to learn, but what I and my colleagues have discovered should give hope and tools for helping healing ecosystems and preventing zoonotic diseases.
Thanks for the comments - I think if people read my work with more depth, they would have a better understanding. A 18 minute talk is not enough time to fully elaborate on these principles.
